If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that there is something magical about Disney that we all love. Whether it’s the music from the earlier films, from our generation or our siblings/cousins/kids’ generation, it is something that unites a family. Though with the 500 millionth listen to “Let It Go”, some parents may be wanting to mute their little darlings, you cannot help but smile and sing along with the classics. And that is just what Disney is offering us this Thursday on ABC with The Disney Family Singalong.
Hosted by Ryan Seacrest, the musical special will have celebrities and their families invite you into their homes to take on some of their favourite Disney songs. Previously announced stars participating in the special included Christina Aguilera, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, Auliʻi Cravalho, Jordan Fisher, Josh Gad, Thomas Rhett, and John Stamos. They will be joined with a whole host of other celebs, which were announced yesterday.
A big drawcard for the event is the reuniting of the cast of High School Musical. Yes Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens and other cast members will be performing “We’re All in This Together”. While star Zac Efron is unable to participate in that number (HSM director Kenny Ortega said this was due to the fact that “We couldn’t reach Zac until late”), Efron will be sending a special message during the evening. Instead the HSM cast will be teaming up with a number of Disney stars from some of its latest series – The Descendants, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Zombies and more. Confirmed to be in the number are Ortega, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Raven-Symoné, Dove Cameron, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, Sarah Jeffrey, Meg Donnelly, and Milo Manheim.
Also announced yesterday were performances from Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Darren Criss, Alan Menken, Elle Fanning, Josh Groban, Tori Kelly, and Marcus Scribner. In addition, James Monroe Iglehart will reunite with the Aladdin Broadway cast for “Friend Like Me”.
The TV event will start with a vocal warm up run by Chenoweth and an introduction by Fanning. In addition to the epic HSM number, performances will include:

“How Far I’ll Go” - Auliʻi Cravalho
“I Won’t Say I’m In Love” - Ariana Grande
“I Wan’na Be Like You” - Darren Criss
“I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” - Donny Osmond
“It’s a Small World” - John Stamos
“Let It Go” - Amber Riley
“The Bare Necessities” - Erin Andrews, Bobby Bones, Carrie Ann Inaba and Marcus Scribner
