With Halloween just around the corner we are sure many of you are looking for a last-minute costume to rock out to on All Hallows’ Eve. So why not gather some inspiration from the various Halloween costumes we have seen on Television. We’ve assembled a list of the best and worst TV has had to offer.
YAY – Rosie The Riveter (Parks and Recreation)
Leslie Knope is one of our favorite strong female characters on television. Naturally, the moment she suited up as Rosie the Riveter quickly made it to the top moments of the show. It’s an easy outfit too, all you need is the trademark red bandana and a denim shirt. And a biceps to show off, which we all have anyway. We can do it indeed, Ladies.
YAY – Blue Naomi (90210)
We are all for geeky TV- and movie inspired costumes. Even though Naomi did not dress up for Halloween, but rather to impress boyfriend Max, her outfit is on point. We think she looks stunning as Neytiri. It really looks incredible, but is it comfortable? We are wondering how itchy that blue make up gets after a few hours. And bright surfaces seem to be a no go either…
NAY – The Slutty Pumpkin (How I Met Your Mother)
We have waited years for this special reveal. What we ended up with? Well it was anticlimactic. The slutty pumpkin has been one mystery, along with the pineapple incident that we really, really needed to be solved. Apart from it being a disappointment storytelling-wise, the costume itself did not live up to the hype either. It just looks unflattering, even on someone like Katie Holmes.
YAY – Space Cowboy (Castle)
Back to the geeky stuff we love so much! This outfit should be more than familiar not only to Mister Fillion himself but to the millions of Serenity/Firefly fans out there. It was not only a lovely nod to the beloved sci-fi show, but also a really cool costume. And who needs cows in space anyway, right?
YAY – Adam and Eve (Chuck)
When it comes to couple costumes, this one takes the cake. If you’re as ridiculously attractive as Captain Awesome and Ellie – and even if you’re not - why not bare it all and walk out there the way God created you. Leaves, snake, apple and all. This costume is everything but ordinary. Celebrate your bodies!
NAY – Sexy Dracula (Community)
Generally we’d consider Community a winner in the costume department, every year their costumes are grand! Highlights include Abed’s Batman costume, Britta’s T-Rex outfit and Annie’s skeleton suit. But Troy’s half-assed attempt at being a sexy Dracula in season two makes us cringe. We definitely preferred his previous science-fiction inspired costume. Troy does not need to go shirtless to be sexy. Bet no one told him not to listen to Jeff’s advice, ever.
YAY – Superphoebe (Friends)
There is no doubt that 2015 is the year of Supergirl, our blonde hero is literally everywhere. So why not dress up as the kick-ass alien and feel deliciously empowered? We dare you to look as cute as Liza Kudrow did rocking the blue/red ensamble. Generally the six friends always had a lucky hand at picking out costumes. Whether we think of Chandler’s fluffy bunny suit or Ross’ armadillo costume - they were as iconic as the group itself.
YAY – Wonder Woman (The OC)
Staying on the topic of super hero costumes, because this year that is something you just cannot go wrong with. While Summer, much like Naomi, dressed up to impress the object of her affection. She is really rocking that Wonder Woman costume. Merry Christmas indeed. There is really no shortage of super heroes you can pick from. With a well done outfit you will be the talk of the night! Bonus: The respect that Anna and Summer had for each other even though they were fighting for the same boy is making us feel things.
NAY – Bookface – (The Office)
We love John Krasinkis’s face, we really, really do. This costume just lacks effort. Not that any of Jim Halpert’s costumes really ever involved any effort, we’d like to remind of his “Three Hole Punch” costume. If time is of the essence, his costumes are of the quick and easy kind. Not necessarily pretty but totally doable in 2-5 minutes. Honestly, we’d rather see you dressed up as the twitter bird if you really feel like representing social media.
YAY – Do Not Cross (Brooklyn 99)
This is one of those last-minute no effort costumes that we could actually approve of. Amy Santiago is one of those characters who can’t do wrong. Not even with a costume made entirely out of police tape. Even better: she’s right at source so this was a cheap solution as well. Applied with a little more care this makes for a really cool costume.
YAY – Pretty Little Liars
The Rosewood clan celebrates Halloween on a yearly basis, even on screen. And every single year their costumes blow our minds. From Marilyn Monroe to Britney Spears, from intricate 18th century gowns to flapper dresses. How these ladies find the time to go costume shopping while being harassed by A remains the real mystery. A+ girls.
