While Warner Bros. CEO Jason Kilar posted a Medium.com update on Warners’ plans for their 2021 film catalogue, he added a P.S. with some exciting stuff for all you Game Of Thrones fans.
“Principal photography starts on the next Game of Thrones series, House Of The Dragon, in a few months. Look out for dragons overhead!” He wrote.
And then, even better, he threw in a couple of concept images for the stars of the new show:
George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal (Colony showrunner) are the co-creators of the prequel, which is a reworking of the previously rejected idea from Game Of Thrones series writer Bryan Cogman.
The storyline will be taken from Fire & Blood – a companion book Martin wrote to go with A Song Of Fire and Ice, the basis for the Game Of Thrones series.
Fire & Blood covers the 300 years before A Song of Fire and Ice, and tells the story of House Targaryan, the eponymous House Of The Dragon.
Condal will serve as showrunner, alongside Miguel Sapochnik, who directed some of the most memorable episodes of Game Of Thrones. George R. R. Martin will serve as executive producer alongside Vince Gerardis, also an exec. producer on Game Of Thrones.
House Of The Dragon is currently due to premiere in 2022.
