HBO Max is moving forward with another project from DC Comics.
Coming from Ava DuVernay and Roberto Patino, there will be a limited series adaptation of DMZ. The story follows a near-future America in the aftermath of a second civil war. The titular DMZ, or demilitarized zone, is Manhattan, which has become devastated and isolated from the rest of the role.
Rosario Dawson stars as Alma, who is described “a fierce medic who saves lives while desperately searching for her lost son. As she contends with the gangs, militias, demagogues and warlords who now control the lawless island, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone there has lost: hope”. She finds herself again Parco Delgado (Benjamin Bratt), one of the heads of the DMZ’s most dangerous gangs.
DMZ explores “a stark political and cultural divide in American society”, according to HBO Max.
Also starring in DMZ are Hoon Lee (Banshee), Freddy Miyares (When They See Us), and Jordan Preston Carter (The Haves and the Have Nots).
DMZ currently has no release date.
