In some pretty shocking news, Jamie Foxx is going to play Electro.
Now, normally, this news isn’t that surprising. Actors reprise roles that they performed all the time. But Foxx, as you remember, was in the oft forgotten The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (poor Andrew Garfield, he’s an underrated Peter Parker), where he played Electro. This role, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will be in Tom Holland’s upcoming third Spidey movie for the MCU.
It’s definitely surprising and interesting as well. It makes you wonder if perhaps the multiverse truly will be introduced into the MCU at large with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Because, damn, that would be kind of cool.
Granted, Foxx appearing as Electro doesn’t mean that will happen. At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, JK Simmons reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson with no multiverse travel required. It could just be giving a great actor a chance to shine in a role that he did pretty well.
Spider-Man 3 is set to hit screens in Dec. 2021, but don’t be married to the release date because, well, pandemic.
