We have our Ms. Marvel!
According to Deadline, newcomer Iman Vellani will play the teenage superhero in the upcoming Disney+ series of the same name. In addition to her television series, Vellani will also appear as the character in MCU films as well.
Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan made her comic debut in 2013, created by writer G. Willow Wilson, artist Adrian Alphona, and editors Stephen Wacker and Sana Amanat. Kamala is also the first mainstream Muslim superhero to head her own title. She’s a normal teen superhero fangirl living in Jersey, but then her Inhuman gene is activated. After that, she has the power to shift her body in shape and size. Since her debut, she’s been a fan favorite.
Celebs such as Riz Ahmed and Mindy Kaling have lobbied to see Kamala in the MCU and fans have been pretty vocal about it as well. She’s appeared in animation and video games, but the Disney+ series will be her first time in live-action. And we’re here for it.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon will serve as directors for Ms. Marvel, which will be written by Bisha K. Ali.
There’s currently no release date for Ms. Marvel.
