For two seasons, Rebecca Bunch was just a girl in love. But now it’s time she’ll be held responsible for her actions.
When season three of The CW’s hit comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend comes back this fall, it does so with a twist. Two years, Rebecca has been lusting after Josh Chan. After he left her at the alter to become a priest (yeah, that actually happened), she is now seeking revenge.
The season three premiere is fittingly titled “Josh’s Ex-Girlfriend Wants Revenge”, and that’s exactly what’s on the menu. Rebecca’s attraction for Josh has turned fatal, possibly literally, and that could also be cause for friction with her closest friends. “Paula, now in training to be a legal eagle, has to decide how far to walk the gangplank for her cookie, Rebecca”, The CW teased in a first press release.
Other complications in Rebecca’s life include the very handsome Nathaniel, who apparently “has his own daddy issues to work out”, and she might even be involved in Darryl and White Josh’s relationship when “baby fever” hits.
As expected, there’s a lot happening in West Covina.
Recently, The CW released the first trailer for season three, and things have gotten real. Very real. While not a word is spoken in the teaser, we can see Rebecca heading to town still wearing her bridal bathrobe. On her way she steps on a pretzel, effectively breaking it in two. Oh sweet symbolism.
From the look in Rebecca’s eyes, we can tell that she means business. Season three is bound to put the crazy in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Manic laughs included.
As creator Aline Brosh McKenna teased, Rebecca really isn’t the best at being a femme fatale: “If Rebecca tried to boil a bunny, she would take the bunny and be like, ‘Oh, it’s so cute!’ And then a month later, she’d have, like, fifty bunnies.”
If that trailer put you in a crazy, vengeful mood, continue by checking out the first official stills for the season three premiere over at TVLine. We do not only get another look at Rebecca in her bathrobe, but also a ton of pictures of what Rachel Bloom called a “Disney-style” opening number that’s bound to become this season’s “Love Kernels”.
Can’t wait for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to return? Get in line! Or, if you fancy, book yourself a ticket to West Covina. If it’s love, it doesn’t have to be rational.
