It really is not so geeky to be a geek these days isn’t it? This is thanks in part to Marvel. Their steady stream of making comic book heroes into movies and TV shows.
Next cab off the rank in their cavalcade is the street level exploits of Daredevil. As we’ve previously reported, Daredevil commences streaming on Netflix on April 10th for those in the USA.
In gee-ing everyone up for the full trailer to be released in a matter of hours, Marvel Studios has released a 16 second teaser for the Daredevil Netflix series.
It’s not much to go on, but we do get out very first glimpse of video footage. In the teaser, we see Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) walking down a hallway in his early Daredevil costume. He says the words “I’m just trying to make my city a better place.”
The series stars Charlie Cox (The Theory of Everything) as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a lawyer-by-day crime-fighter by night. A vital thing to know about Murdock is that he is blind.
When asked about playing the character at last year’s New York Comic-Con, Cox said “There are so many aspects. There’s the blindness and physicality. Making a show is about human emotion, conflict and turmoil. When meeting a man who’s a lawyer by day and believes in law and justice and then a man by night is someone who takes the law into his own hands. He deals with battles dealing with that concept”
Daredevil is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and shares continuity with other films of the franchise. It is also the first in a series of shows that will lead up to a Defenders crossover miniseries. Well that’s the plan in the pipeline, but absolutely ZILCH is known about that. You can be assured when we know… you’ll know!
Netflix is also taking a unique step in rather than following the traditional TV format of releasing one episode a week. They will instead post all thirteen one-hour episodes at once – Hello Binge Watching. This means that you can either choose to watch it as “one big movie” or watch episodes if you have to slot it in between everything else.
The show also stars Vincent D’Onforio, Rosario Dawson and Deborah Ann Woll.
Time to dust off the very old graphic novels in my collection and revisit the flawed hero, Daredevil. Let’s hope they do him justice this time!
Daredevil will be released on April 10th.
