You’re either going to jump for joy or run for the hills; One Direction have announced details of their fourth studio album.

With the exciting and innovative title FOUR, the album will be released on November 17 and is available to pre-order from today, and the band announced this earth shattering news in a video message to fans which, to quote my 9 year old, really is “The best thing ever.” She is only nine though, so make of that what you will.

Fools Fans who pre-order the album will be able to download the new track “Fireproof” from One Direction’s website, but only for 24 hours. Written by Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne with the same team that wrote “Story of My Life,” the song sounds undeniably Fleetwood Mac-esque in its sound and is actually….dare I say it…rather good.

A statement on the band’s website reads as follows: “We’re so excited to announce our fourth album, FOUR! We’ve worked incredibly hard writing and recording it whilst we’ve been on the road and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

“As a special thank you for everything you guys have done for us we wanted to give you “Fireproof” – it’s a track from the album and you can get it for free right now.

“We hope you enjoy it and we can’t wait for you to listen to the album in full. Thank you, you guys mean the world to us.”

FOUR will serve as the follow-up to Midnight Memories, which was the UK’s bestselling album of 2013. To be honest, I’m grateful for the release. It will give me something new to hear reverberating through my daughter’s bedroom walls.

Watch One Direction’s video message below, and flail over it if so inclined.
