Vincent D’Onofrio and Irrfan Khan will be joining the cast of Jurassic World. D’Onofrio, known for his role in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and his role as Edgar the Bug in Men In Black, is set to play the villain. Khan’s role in the films is currently unknown. The two join Chris Pratt, who is set to play the lead, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who recently confirmed her involvement. Pratt will also be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Colin Trevorrow is set to direct in addition to writing the screenplay with Derek Connolly. Trevorrow and Connolly previously worked together on Safety Not Guaranteed. According to Trevorrow, Jurassic World is set 22 years after the events of the first movie and will be a return to Isla Nublar. In case you’ve forgotten, Isla Nublar is the island where the first film was set, the second and third films were set on Isla Sorna.
I either blocked it out, or I managed to miss the announcement that Jurassic World is happening. Either way, I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, the sequel could be excellent and just blow it out of the park, on the other hand, it could end up being terrible. I grew up with Jurassic Park, it’s a favorite and I can’t count how many times I’ve seen it. I also really liked the second film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The third film, Jurassic Park III, wasn’t that impressive, at least for me. The only thing that I really liked about it was the reappearance of Drs. Grant and Sattler. I really hope they don’t rely too heavily on CGI, but that’s a hard thing to ask for nowadays.
