While the teasing between seasons has become an American Horror Story staple, leaving fans pouring over every clue and nugget of information to glean the smallest hint at what may be in store for the upcoming season, the extended break before the 10th season of the hit horror anthology has felt like an eon. Not to mention provided much more time for series creator Ryan Murphy to play with us all. Although the end is no where near in sight (filming only started a few weeks ago), some of the series beloved cast members are also getting in on the game and sharing what they can with horror-starved fans.
In a recent interview with Forbes, returning player Lily Rabe gave some insight in what it was like being back on set, comparing the feel of this season to another classic season. “Ryan Murphy, AHS’s creator, is one of the greatest people to work for. There’s a reason that those who work for him continue to work for him. I can’t believe this is season ten,” said Rabe.
“I think the fact we get to have so many of the same people returning this season, there is this feeling of coming home. You get to tell a new story, play a new part, but the backbone of the thing is solid. It is wonderful getting into the sandbox again and have Ryan at the helm,” she continued. “I’m excited about this season, and I’m not alone in that. You can feel the energy on set. It’s just like it felt on season one.”
Now that can be read a number of ways: is it the energy of the cast and crew in working on the project? The energy/feel of the material/theme? A combination of the two?
As with the nine seasons before it, very little is known about the new season. We do know that the sea has been a key feature in a number of the teaser posts from Murphy and there was that lovely promo photo released last November with some impressive teeth, bold red lippy, a surgical glove and an interestingly tattooed tongue. Production has taken place both in LA and Provincetown, Massachusetts, with many fans predicting the seaside New England town to be the season’s place of action.
In contrast, who will be returning this season is well known. Along with Rabe, we have series regulars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Frances Conroy, and Finn Wittrock. Macaulay Culkin has also been added to the cast for the season.
American Horror Story season 10 is expected some time this year. Prepare yourselves for many more months of teasers.
