Vivian (Hadley Robinson) is mad as hell and she’s not going to take it anymore! Neither are the rest of the girls at her high school.
In the trailer for Moxie, which Amy Poehler directs and stars in, we track the evolution of shy Vivian whose just trying fly under the radar at her sexist high school with a toxic culture led by, of course, a jerk football star (Patrick Schwarzenegger). The film, based on the book by Jennifer Mathieu, tracks as Vivian’s eyes are open to how bad things are when she sees the harassment of a new girl (Alycia Pascual-Peña), who refuses to take it anymore.
Inspired by her riot grrrrrl mother (Poehler), Vivian publishes a zine known as Moxie in order to anonymously call people out and lead a revolution of the other students. Meanwhile, the administration want to shut the zine down rather than, you know, actually do something about the attitudes of the guys. Just like real life.
Moxie also stars Lauren Tsai, Nico Hiraga, Sydney Park, Josephine Langrod, Clark Gregg, Josie Totah, and Ike Barinholtz.
Moxie will be released on Netflix on March 3.
