Netflix and Ubisoft are teaming up for, at least, one live-action series based off the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise.
According to EW, the “first series” is described as “”epic, genre-bending live-action adaptation”. Currently, they’re looking for a showrunner for the series. It’s unsurprising that Netflix is doing yet another video game adaptation. Look at the success of the adaptations of The Witcher and Castlevania, it definitely makes sense.
In a statement, Peter Friedlander, Vice President, Original Series, Netflix, said, “From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct [intellectual property] and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”
Hopefully, the series will go better than the 2016 film adaptation of the franchise did, which was woof rough. Also in development at Netflix is a Resident Evil TV series.
