Ready to see how Ziggy Stardust was born?
In the trailer for the David Bowie biopic, Stardust, we see a pre-fame David Bowie (Johnny Flynn) struggling to give new life to his flagging career. Flying to America, the 24-year-old Bowie meets with the one person who doesn’t hate his music, Rob Oberman (Marc Maron).
So the two embark on a trip across America when Bowie struggles. At the time, his oddball performance style, different views of male sexuality, and unique fashion sense are met with some major pushback from a public not ready to accept him for him. It’s hard to be an innovator.
This leads, of course, to the birth of Bowie’s alternate persona, Ziggy Stardust.
Or, as he puts it in the trailer, “There is no authentic me. There’s just fear. I want to take my fantasies on stage with me.”
Jena Malone also stars in the film.
Stardust will be in theatres and on VOD on Nov. 25.
