COVID Thriller Starring KJ Apa Songbird Releases Its First Trailer

Just when we thought the pandemic could not have got any worse, someone in Hollywood decided to imagine it anyway.

Awesome.

In the trailer for the Michael Bay-produced thriller Songbird, we see a hypothetical future when COVID-19 mutated into an even worse virus. Some people haven’t left their homes in about for years.

Nico (KJ Apa), however, has immunity to the virus. He spends his days as a courier, biking LA and working on the frontlines. He even has a girlfriend, Sara (Sofia Carson), who he can’t see in person as she stays under quarantine. Their relationship keeps them going through the dark times, which gets pretty damn dark apparently.

As EW describes it, Songbird shows “a city with an enforced curfew and martial law, where citizens must thermal scan themselves on their phone to prove they aren’t infected. If an anomaly is detected, armed sanitation guards descend on their homes to take them to quarantine camps. And if they attempt to leave their homes in the meantime, they’ll be shot on sight. When Sara seems to have become infected, Nico goes to all lengths to try and reach her before she is seized.”

Demi Moore, Bradley Whitford, Paul Walter Hauser, Craig Robinson, Peter Stormare and Alexandra Daddario also star, which was directed by Adam Mason.
