Ready to go deep into how a song gets made? Because, music nerds, the trailer for Netflix’s Song Exploder promises you all you want to know and more about how artists make some amazing songs.
Based on the podcast of the same name and hosted by Hrishikesh Hirway, the series will feature in-depth interviews with artists mixed with archival footage. We have a hosts of people across genres from Alicia Keys discussing her 2020 song “3 Hour Drive” to Lin-Manuel Miranda talking Hamilton‘s “Wait for It” to R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe discussing everyone’s favorite “Losing My Religion”.
Hirway said in a statement about the series, “As a teenager, I used to sit in my room and listen to music while poring over the lyrics and liner notes and artwork until I could almost feel myself living in the world of the artist. It was the most incredible feeling, and with Song Exploder, I wanted to take that feeling and go even further. It’s been so exciting to turn it into a television show, because it’s provided a chance to immerse yourself in the music — and the ideas behind the music — in a deeper way than I ever imagined.”
Song Exploder will hit Netflix on Oct. 2.
