If you think that Batwoman is doing away with Alice (Rachel Skarsten) in season two, then don’t fear. Her storyline is about to get a lot more intense.
According to EW, Shivani Ghai (Dominion) will recur as Safiyah Sohail in the second season of the series. Safiyah’s a mysterious presence that looms large over Alice in the first season of the series, but it looks like these nemeses will meet each other face to face in the upcoming season.
Per the character description, Safiyah is described as “the fiercely protective ruler of a small community on the island of Coryana. A woman with as many enemies as aliases, she is compassionate and charismatic with both physical and psychological prowess. She is beloved by her people and will stop at nothing to protect what’s hers. No one goes unnoticed by Safiyah, specifically when it comes to those who have encountered the Desert Rose.”
The Desert Rose, if you recall, is what Alice tempted both Mary (Nicole Kang) and Catherine (Elizabeth Anweis) when she poisoned them both. Mary got the dose of the Desert Rose, survivng, while her mother died.
It’ll be interesting to see how this storyline is handled. With Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) in the wind and Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) stepping into the cowl, we’re curious to see where the Alice storyline will go from here.
