Even though the fourth season of Netflix’s The Crown has not even been dropped yet and fans are not quite ready to say goodbye to Olivia Colman (Elizabeth II), Tobias Menzies (Prince Philip), Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret) and co, us fans of the show want to know who will take over from them for the fifth and sixth season of the show. After all, the next actors will be the last ones to take on these iconic people/characters.

Thankfully, we already know who will be our next queen, as it was already announced that Imelda Staunton will take over the crown from Olivia Colman, and Princess Margaret will be portrayed by Lesley Manville. Two top-notch actresses, who have fans excited for the final seasons.

The new queen will not be without her consort for much longer either, as Deadline has revealed that Oscar-nominated and Game of Thrones alum Jonathan Pryce will be taking over from Tobias Menzies, and will portray Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

It is a pretty good choice and it is no surprise that many are delighted by the choice the producers and casting directors have made. Jonathan Pryce is just as delighted to join the show in its final two seasons, as he already has a pretty good experience working with Netflix. After all, his role in The Two Popes has gained him an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination.

“I am delighted to be working with Netflix again. The positive experience I had making The Two Popes has given me the confidence to tackle the daunting prospect of portraying Prince Philip, to be doing so with Peter Morgan in the company of Imelda and Lesley will be a joy,” he said in a statement, which The Crown’s official social media accounts released shortly after the announcement.

I am sure it will be a joy to watch them on screen as well, even if we have to until 2022. Thankfully, season four of The Crown will be released later this year.
