Captain Marvel 2 has found its director! Oh boy, this is a real superstar for movie fans.
According to EW, Nia DaCosta, who directed the upcoming sequel for Candyman, has signed on for Captain Marvel 2. DaCosta took over from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who directed the first film. It’s a bit of a shock in terms of the MCU, usually when a director is matched with a franchise they tend to stay aboard. It looks like things are getting shook up!
Based on the trailers for the upcoming Jordan Peele-produced sequel to 1992′ Candyman, DaCosta is an immensely talented director. So we can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to the upcoming film. WandaVision scribe Megan McDonnell will pen the script for Captain Marvel 2. Brie Larson, of course, is set to reprise her role as Carol Danvers.
Captain Marvel 2 currently has a release date for July 2022.
