Perry Mason was originally supposed to be a limited series for HBO, but now that’s out the window.
Because, according to TVLine, Perry Mason has been renewed for a second season. It’s happening more and more with limited series lately, huh? It’s a solid idea, of course. The original run of the Perry Mason series decades ago last for years.
Plus, Perry Mason has been a great draw for audiences hungry for good crime content.
Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming said in a statement on the renewal.
“It has been an exciting journey to work with the immensely talented team behind Perry Mason. Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930’s Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season.”
The show stars Matthew Rhys as the titular detective with John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany, Shea Whigham, Chris Chalk, and Juliet Rylance also starring.
Perry Mason will air its season one finale on Aug. 9 on HBO.
