A baby sitter is just a call away in the trailer for Netflix’s adaptation of the beloved The Baby-Sitters Club. For those who grew up with the series of Ann M. Martin books in the 80s and 90s, then you’ll recognize Kristy and the gang… just updated for 2020.
For those not familiar with the iconic series, the trailer introduces you to 7th grader Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace) who decides to found the Baby-Sitter’s Club, a club which aims to help parents get a baby-sitter with just a single phone call. She’s joined by her best friends Claudia Kishi (Momona Tanada), Mary Ann Spier (Malia Baker), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez).
They hang out in Claudia’s room waiting for a call on their “retro” (from Etsy!) see-through phone that will make all millennials feel old at it being called “retro”. Even though they seem to embrace the books in the series, the modernization peeks through, naturally.
The Baby-Sitters Club will hit Netflix on July 3.
