The Flash film may have been languishing in development hell for years now, but, oh boy, it certainly promises something amazing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his role as Batman in the upcoming film. Keaton famously played the Caped Crusader in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns. Can we get a Hell Yes?!
Ezra Miller will star as Barry Allen in the film with Andy Muschietti (It) set to direct. Now, according to THR who heard from a source, Keaton’s Batman would act something like Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury in future DC film projects – as a “mentor or guide or even string-puller”.
Originally, a lot of reports said that The Flash would be an adaptation of Flashpoint, which served as a reboot for DC Comics like… five reboots ago (DC does it a lot). Both an Earth referencing Keaton’s Batman and Ezra Miller appeared in The CW’s version of Crisis on Infinite Earths. So who knows! Maybe the multiverse will just go boom or something over in DC film land.
New reports, according to THR, said that there will be a focus on interdimensional travel in The Flash. So who knows what to expect.
The Flash will come out in 2022.
