Batwoman fans learned yesterday that Ruby Rose has left the series ahead of season two. Unfortunately, no one has given a reason why she left the show. Not even the patent “creative differences”, which would have been something.
While none of the official channels have been talking, a source close to Batwoman took a moment to chat with TVLine about the split. Although the official story paints the exit as Rose’s decision, it seems to be a little more complicated then that.
“It wasn’t 100-percent her decision. It was a breakup. She wasn’t happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No. So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned, if they parted ways. It just wasn’t a good fit.”
Rose, according to this source, was more used to film work and got distressed about the hours of time she had to put in on set. She also did not adjust to life in Vancouver well. Honestly, it’s better for it to happen now then just leaving in the middle of the season or something. Who knows when filming will be able to resume?
Until then, all we can do is speculate who will be cast in the role and how on Earth the writers will explain it.
Batwoman will return Jan. 2021 on The CW.
