Lin-Manuel Miranda Drops Some Rhymes In The Trailer For Hulu’s Freestyle Love Supreme Doc

Curious as to how an improv hip-hop group led to In the Heights and Hamilton? Then checking out the trailer for the Hulu documentary We Are Freestyle Love Supreme will be a definite must.

The group had members such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and Christopher Jackson. Many point to Freestyle Love Supreme as what is shaping theatre today. In the trailer for the doc, emcee and co-founder Anthony Veneziale said, “A lot of the people in Freestyle Love Supreme are shaping what the American theater looks like now.”

Utkarsh Ambudkar, member and subject of the doc, translated his success with the trope into a film career that includes roles in Mulan and Free Guy. Another members of Freestyle Love Supreme include Arthur Lewis, Chris Sullivan, Bill Sherman, James Monroe Iglehart, Andrew Bancroft, and Thomas Kail. The documentary was directed by Chef’s Table‘s Andrew Fried.
