Netflix is planning to bring another DC Comic series to life. According to TVLine, the streaming giant has ordered a series based on the comic Sweet Tooth to series.
The comic was created by Jeff Lemire for the Veritgo imprint of DC Comics. The show was created by Beth Schwartz (Arrow) as executive producer/writer/co-showrunner along with Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard).
The official synopsis for Sweet Tooth describes it as “the broad appeal, family-friendly, storybook adventure of Gus (Pup Academy and Legion‘s Christian Convery) — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.”
Will Forte (Last Man On Earth), James Brolin (Life in Pieces), Nonso Anozie (Zoo) and Adeel Akhtar (Ghosted) are also in the cast.
Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell exec-producing along with Linda Moran.
Hulu previously tried to pick up Sweet Tooth, but it failed to score a series order. No release date is currently set for the project.
