On Sunday, “Alex in Wonderland” took center stage in Supergirl’s fifth season. The episode saw Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) in the middle of grieving the sudden loss of her father Jeremiah by delving deeper in the world of VR. In that world, she took on the persona of Supergirl.
Leigh took to Instagram to share her thoughts on what she learned for the episode, which was a very raw look at a person’s grief process dressed up in sci-fi fun and having to face your reality even when it’s hard.
“I’m so proud of this episode. So proud of Alex. Despite becoming #SuperAlex in this episode, the greatest lesson she learns isn’t about having strength, it’s about love. And that’s the powerful thing of all. I hope you all enjoy @supergirlcw tonight.” Leigh wrote.
Supergirl, like the other CW series, is currently on a production shutdown in order to combat COVID-19. Currently, there is no word on when production will resume for the series fifth season.
Supergirl airs Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.
