Stargirl Sets May Premiere Date For DC Universe And The CW

Stargirl is going to fly onto DC Universe and The CW later this spring. Now we finally have a release date for the teen drama superhero series.

According to EW, Stargirl will premiere on the DC Universe streaming platform on Monday, May 11. The series will also co-air on The CW (smart) a day later at 9/8c. Stargirl will settle into its airing slot date of Tuesday, May 26 at 8/7c. It will take over the timeslot of The Flash.

Character creator and showrunner Geoff Johns said of the series, “She was inspired by my late sister, so it means a lot to me personally to have come off the page and onto the screen like this, and to work with the crew and the cast that I did. It was amazing.”

Stargirl follows “high schooler Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) as she adjusts to her new life in Blue Valley, Neb. after her mother remarries retired superhero sidekick Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). Courtney learns about her step-father’s past life when she discovers Justice Society of America member Starman’s (Joel McHale) Cosmic Staff, which she then borrows to become Stargirl and inspire a new generation of heroes to fight villains from the past. However, Pat doesn’t let her go out there alone and suits up as her sidekick S.T.R.I.P.E., a 15-foot robot.”

In the new DC multiverse for television, the events of Stargirl will take on Earth-2.

Stargirl premieres on Monday, May 11 on DC Universe and on Tuesday May 12 at 9/8c on The CW.
