Batwoman’s Camrus Johnson On How Luke May React To Kate Crossing That Line

Batwoman is starting to delve into the consequences of Kate (Ruby Rose) having crossed the line that Batman never crossed: killing. Right now, the Kanes (Jacob, Kate, and Alice) are keeping things a secret. Even though it’s quiet now, sooner or later, Kate’s inner circle will learn.

EW talked with Camrus Johnson about how Luke will deal with the information when the time comes, especially as Luke actually worked with Batman.

“Batman had a code for a reason, and Luke looks up to Batman. He trusts Batman’s rules, and he knows that if Batman succeeded for this long and stood by these rules, then everyone should.”

Johnson, however, said that it wouldn’t be a hard line sort of thing.

“Luke knows some things about Bruce about Bruce that Kate doesn’t, and vice-versa, so I think Luke might be surprisingly forgiving, but at the same time, I don’t think he would be too forgiving too quickly. I think it would take a little bit more time before he forgives her because murder is no small deal.”

Johnson also shared that he doesn’t think that Kate killing would be the major sticking point for Luke. It comes down more to a matter of trust.

“At the same time, I think Luke wants Kate to trust in him as much as possible and to tell him everything. So, I think it would hurt less knowing about this thing that she did, and I think it would hurt him more that she hasn’t told him.”

Batwoman airs Sundays at 8/7c on The CW.
