It’s always interesting to see what kind of unlikely yet interesting duos we’ll get in movies. This latest bit of news may definitely be one of our favorites.
On his Instagram, Zachary Levi (Shazam) announced his casting in Undercover along with co-star Cole Sprouse (Riverdale). Two people we never saw working together, so we can’t wait to see how it will go. Also, oddly enough, it’s a musical. Kind of.

So stoked to announce my latest project “Under Cover”, starring (so far) the uber talented @colesprouse and myself, and to be directed by my pal #StevePink! Y’all, this is gonna be a real humdinger! 💃 A big thank you to @lionsgate @mandfilms @liebermantodd et al for believing in this project, and trusting me to lead it. It’s gonna be chock full of heart, humor, and some of the most iconic tunes of the last 50 years, that I get to SING!!! Let’s party. 🤘😎🤘
Hailing from the mind of Steve Pink, who wrote the scripts for High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank, the film follows Jack (Levi), a down on his luck ex-rocker, who links up with a group of musicians in a wedding cover band led by Ben (Sprouse). While Jack’s presence definitely raises the band’s profile, the revelation of his identity forces him to confront his priorities and help Ben find his musical voice.
Pink will also serve as director for the film.
It’s funny because Sprouse has pretty much sat out on musical numbers on Riverdale except last year’s episode with the musical Heathers. So it’ll be wild to see him sing.
On his own post, Sprouse shared that he’s excited “to work alongside big sexy frontman [Zachary Levi] in a variety of catsuits and stunt harnesses.”
Undercover‘s filming is set to begin in April, but no release date has been set.
