Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel And Jennifer Aniston Triumph At 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Awards season is in full swing and as we head closer and closer to Oscars Sunday, the latest batch of statutes were handed out to the crème de la crème in film and television yesterday (19 January).

The Screen Actors Guild Awards have often provided insight into who will be taking home those acting prizes at the Academy Awards, and based on the results from yesterday’s ceremony, the tradition looks likely to continue with both Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Renee Zellweger (Judy) seeming unstoppable to that gold statue.

Over on the TV front, accolades were bestowed to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, taking home Best Comedy Cast and Best Comedy Actor, Tony Shalhoub. The Crown nipped the final season of Game of Thrones to the Best Drama Cast prize, though they didn’t leave empty-handed with the fantastic Peter Dinklage taking home the Best Male Actor in a Drama Series prize. It was a big night for Apple TV+ with their first ever win secured by Jennifer Aniston in the Best Female Actor in a Drama Series category for The Morning Show.

The evening also saw two-time Oscar winner Robert de Niro presented with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
