After months of waiting, we finally have the first footage for Wonder Woman 1984. The long-awaited sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman takes place in the decade of greed as Diana (Gal Gadot) finds herself in the midst of a Cold War plot.
Also Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) is alive. No. We still have no idea how.
Diana and Barbara Minerva (Kristen Wiig) seem to have a little chemistry of their own going on. So this trailer got all kinds of interesting on the “Make Wonder Woman Bisexual In Movies You Cowards” front.
The trailer, with a synth beat in the background, promises some glorious action, a lot of humor, and excellent drama. Diana seems to have made her peace with the world at large as she battles baddies from the White House (or what looks like it) to the mall. Starcourt could never.
Plus there’s a scene where she throws her tiara like goddamn Sailor Moon and it’s the best thing. The. Best. Thing. Period.
Gadot teased a little bit of Diana’s journey in Wonder Woman 1984.
“She’s quite lonely. She lost all of her friends over the years, and she’s doing what she needs to do. She’s doing her calling. She’s helping mankind and saving them — until something crazy is about to happen to her.”
Hopefully, Steve’s return isn’t a whole “be careful what you wish for” sort of scenario.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on June 5, 2020.
