Tom Holland’s Uncharted Loses Director Travis Knight

Sorry, folks! It looks like the film version of the popular video game Uncharted has hit another snag.

The Tom Holland-starrer has lost Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo and the Two Strings) as director of the project. Knight is one of many directors who have signed on and left the project including Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy and David O. Rusell (American Hustle).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Knight’s exit is blamed on scheduling issues. Uncharted, which also stars Mark Wahlberg, will probably lose its Dec. 2020 release date due to Holland’s Spider-Man commitments.

Either way, we have to wonder if Uncharted is heading to development hell again. The film has been in limbo for years.

Based on the popular Playstation series, which ended in 2016, Uncharted follows adventurer and treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Tom Holland is set to play Drake with Wahlberg, who was originally playing Drake way back in the day, is set to play Drake’s mentor Sully.

The most recent version of the script was written by Rafe Judkins and duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

We’ll see if Uncharted will be able to snag another director. Fingers crossed.
