With the success of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, it looks like He-Man is gearing up to come back in a big way. There’s a movie in the works starring Noah Centineo as the title character. Kevin Smith has a sequel series to the original 80s cartoon in development at Netflix. Mattel wants to release new toys and a comic book through DC.
Now there’s going to be another He-Man series in the works at Netflix. This CG-animated series, however, will not be related to Smith’s project. This series will be its own thing, and sounds like an updated reboot of the classic property. Unlike the popular She-Ra, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will be produced through Mattel Television.
The logline of the series goes: “On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?”
The animation will be done by House of Cool and CGCG, both of which worked on the popular Trollhunters series. A poster for the series was also released, showing He-Man and his sword in profile. Check it out below.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe currently does not have a release date.
