The Witcher is perhaps one of THE most anticipated projects that Netflix has ever produced. Now we finally know when it will premiere.
The newly released trailer of the series promises to fulfill that Game of Thrones shaped hole in your heart. It’s also gorgeously shot, giving the whole affair a more cinematic flair. We honestly can’t wait to see the eight-episode first season in all of its glory.
The Witcher is based on a series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski, which spawned a popular video game franchise of the same name. It follows the adventures of Geralt (Henry Cavill), the titular witcher, a solitary hunter of monsters. He struggles to find his place in the world, where people can suck more than monsters. (We totally feel you, buddy.)
When Destiny pushes him into the path of a young sorceress Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and a princess, Ciri (Freya Allan), with a secret, the three find themselves embroiled in an “epic tale of fate and family”. Really, they’re just trying to survive.
Even worse, Geralt is attempting not to release a great calamity onto the Continent. So, no big deal, just the end of the world.
The season of witch(er) will be in just a couple months. The Witcher will be released on Netflix on Dec. 20.
