More positive progress in the long-awaited film adaptation of the popular video game franchise, Uncharted.

According to Variety, Mark Wahlberg is in talks to join the film as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, the mentor of Nathan Drake. In the film, Drake will be played by Spider-Man‘s Tom Holland. Once upon a time, Wahlberg was attached to star as Nathan Drake.

This was years ago, back in 2010. Yeah, Uncharted has been in development hell for years. So fingers crossed that this actually gets made.

Wahlberg’s past credits include theTransformers franchise and Instant Family. His other upcoming projects are Wonderland, Good Joe Bell, Scoob!, and Infinite.

Co-star Tom Holland is currently filming Cherry from Avengers: Endgame directors, The Russo Bros.

Nathan Drake, borderline conman and treasure hunter extraordinaire, travels the globe searching for lost and ancient treasures. Also criminal shenanigans happen along the way. Sully is Drake’s most frequent travel companion: mentor, comrade, and father figure rolled into one.

Rafe Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway penned the latest version of the script. Travis Knight (Bumblebee) is signed on to direct.

Uncharted will be released on Dec. 18, 2020. So production should start pretty soon.
