The CW Is Developing A Superman And Lois Series From Greg Berlanti

With Arrow exiting our screens after its 10-episode eighth season, the time has come to find a new series to fill the void left behind. There is the spin-off entitled Green Arrow & the Canaries in the works which will star Kat McNamara, Katie Cassidy-Rodgers, and Juliana Harkavay.

There’s also another series being developed as well. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No it’s… Superman & Lois Lane.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the series is being executive produced and written by Todd Helbing, the former showrunner of The Flash. Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti is also set as an executive producer along with  Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.

The series will see Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) and Bitsie Tulloch (Grimm) reprise their roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane. It is described as following “the super-duo as they deal with all of the stress, pressures, and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society”.

Hoechlin made his Arrowverse debut on Supergirl‘s second season with Tulloch joining in last year’s “Elseworlds” crossover. The pair will reprise their roles in the massive Crisis on Infinite Earths later this year.

Hoechlin took to Instagram to comment on the upcoming project.

I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to tell this story, that for now shall remain a secret. But I’ve been blessed with nothing less than the most wonderful people to do it alongside of. I couldn’t ask for a better partner than @BitsieTulloch in all of this. I’ve already learned so much from her and I know that won’t stop anytime soon. So thank you @gberlanti and everyone else who brought her in as our Lois Lane. All the people behind the scenes care so much about these characters and their lives and the parts to which we’ll be speaking about, it gives me great comfort to know that they’ll steer us in the right direction. Thank you to everyone that said “yes” to this project (Warner Brothers, DC, CW). We won’t let you down. It’s going to be a grand adventure. Can’t wait to get to work! P.S. I had no idea this picture existed when someone grabbed the shot of Bitsie and I on the monitor, and I just noticed today the resemblance of my expression to that of Mr. Reeves. Had to share. Hope we make something he would be proud of. Up, up!

Bitsie Tulloch also took to Twitter to release a statement as well.

No word on if, like Green Arrow & the Canaries, there will be backdoor pilot for the show.

Supergirl airs Sundays at 9/8c on the CW.
