Tell Me A Story, the CBS All Access “dark reimagining” of classic fairytales, is back with a second season.
Or, well, a second season trailer that promises getting some dark takes on a princess stories. The focus for season 2 is Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, which are all pretty much on display in the trailer. The first season for the anthology series took inspiration from Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and Hansel and Gretel.
At the center of the season is the Pruitt family“as they navigate love, loss, romance and terror against the iconic backdrop [of Nashville]”. The family is headed by their matriarch, Rebecca (Carrie-Anne Moss). Also included in the cast is returning cast members Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries) and Danielle Campbell along with newbies Natalie Alyn Lind (The Gifted), Odette Annable (Supergirl), Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights), Eka Darville (Jessica Jones) and Ashley Madekwe (Revenge).
Based on the trailer, we get a few ideas for the darker remakes of the fairy tales. Beauty and the Beast is between a country music star (Lind), who was scarred in a bombing, and her bodyguard (Darville). Wesley plays a creepy writer who watches his fiancee sleep in increasingly creep ways as he struggles to write in the Sleeping Beauty update. For Cinderella, it looks like Simone Garland (Madekwe) was able to get away from her step-family and went into a life of crime. Either way, I would want a movie with that premise and I like how her “glass slipper” is a keychain.
Tell Me A Story will debut its season 2 on Dec. 5.
