New On-Set Pic Gives Us Our First Look At The Crown’s Charles And Di

There is just over a month before we get the first installment of The Crown with Olivia Colman sitting on the throne, but already the cast and crew are hard at work filming season 4 and they are set to recreate some more iconic royal moments.

Set in the late 70s-early 80s, the season will explore Thatcherite Britain and the early relationship and marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales. Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin will be playing the royal couple and a new on-set picture has revealed our first look at the pair, giving us a hint at an upcoming storyline for the series – their Australia and New Zealand Royal Tour.

In 1983, Prince Charles and Princess Diana embarked on a tour down under, bringing with them 9-month old Prince William, to the delight of the antipodean crowds. One stop on the visit was to the sacred Indigenous site in the heart of Australia, Uluru.

In the first look photo, O’Connor and Corrin can be seen in a khaki suit and white dress with three-quarter sleeves and a white purse, respectively. Check out the comparison below.

Unfortunately for O’Connor and Corrin, they don’t get to follow in their counterparts footsteps and visit these magical sites, though I wouldn’t feel too sorry for them. They are in Almeria, Spain for the shoot so not too shabby.

In addition to Corrin, season 4 will see Gillian Anderson join the cast as former British PM Margaret Thatcher.

Season 3 of The Crown, in which Colman takes over from Claire Foy and Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh from Matt Smith, drops on Netflix Sunday, November 17.
