When you get through a haunted house or a haunted maze, you expect an actor to jump out and scare you. You just don’t expect it to be the person who originated the role in the maze the movie is based on.
Yet that is what Lupita Nyong’o did at Universal’s Halloween Horror Night. In a maze inspired by the Jordan Peele-directed Us, Nyong’o channeled her character Red in order to horrify guests.
The footage was released on Wednesday, Oct 30. Oh boy, we didn’t forget how creepy Nyong’o was in the role. Damn she’s really creepy in the role. Just a whole new appreciation.
Some of her antics in the maze included dangling Red’s paper cutouts and cackling at guests as they rush past her. Honestly, if this was me, I would be way too scared to realize it was Nyong’o. I am famously a wuss for haunted houses.
Either way, it’s still pretty fun to watch other people get scared. Nyong’o honestly still kills in the role.
Well, not literally, but you get the picture.
Tickets are still available for Halloween Horror Nights in November if you dare to enter the world of the Tethered. Just make sure to keep an eye out for your doppelgänger.
