Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a very busy man and very in demand as an actor. Along with his magnetic and kind personality, his films are usually enjoyable to watch.
The trailer for his latest Disney venture Jungle Cruise, based on the theme park attraction of the same name, dropped today. With it, there is a lot of adventure, humor, and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) being a badass of the highest order.
Plot details for the film have been kept under wraps. The rest of the cast includes Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti. Here’s what we gleaned from the trailer.
Blunt plays scientist Dr. Lily Houghton in the early 20th century who is searching for a legendary tree. Johnson’s Frank is a riverboat captain who runs the cheapest ride for tourists with rigged thrills and spills for them to enjoy. Lily hires Frank (promising a ton of money) if he can take her to where the tree is rumored to exist. Frank agrees, but only after warning her that if legends are real, then so are the curses attached to them.
The trailer honestly looks a lot of fun. Blunt and Johnson are clearly enjoying themselves. It honestly kind of gives me Brendan Fraser The Mummy vibes. I, quiet honestly, dig those vibes indeed.
Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) directs.
