Black Lightning will return in October along with most other CW shows. Out of the Arrowverse series, we’re most curious about what’s happening with Black Lightning. While some characters will appear during “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, it is a series not explicitly part of the five-series event.
Needless to say, things in Freeland will probably not lead up to the massive crossover. Based on the end of season two, they have their own problems. The ASA knows that the Pierces are superpowered and are willing to use them to help fight the growing conflict with Markovia.
In the first teaser, things don’t look that great either for the family. Jefferson (Cress Williams) appears to be imprisoned while Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jenn (China Anne McClain) are going full tilt vigilante. It also sounds like there’s a war coming as well.
The series has never shied away from using the world of superheroes and superpowers to tackle social issues. Hopefully that will be a trend to continue in season three. We’re also hoping that some of the pacing issues that plagued season two will also be resolved. Fingers crossed.
Check out the teaser below. It looks like things are going to be a lot worse before they get better for our fave family of crimefighters.
Black Lightning returns on Monday, Oct. 7 at 9/8c on the CW.
