Darren Criss’ Broadway festival returns to the New York stage next month. The fifth annual Elsie Fest is on October 5 at Central Park’s Summerstage, returning for the third year to the popular venue. As has become custom, Criss will close the outdoor music festival that celebrates the music and stars from stage and screen, but the rest of the line up had remained under wraps until yesterday.

Taking to social media, Criss announced the first set of performers to join him this year, and as in previous years, it is a great mix of established and up-and-coming Broadway babies. They include Tony winner Gavin Creel (Hello, Dolly!; The Book of Mormon) and entertainer Michael Feinstein. Also revealed to be performing is the Tony-winning composer of Hadestown Anaïs Mitchell and Tony nominee for Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and upcoming star of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story Ariana DeBose.

There will also be musical performances from the cast of Broadway’s upcoming Alanis Morissette musical Jagged Little Pill and performers from the Rodgers and Hammerstein organization’s R&H Goes Pop series.

Fans of Criss’ musical theatre group StarKid who were unable to make it to LA recently for the groups’ 10th Anniversary Homecoming concert will be thrilled to know that cast members from A Very Potter Musical will also be in attendance as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. To keep the tunes playing through the day, West Village piano bar Marie’s Crisis are also back to host showtune sing-alongs between sets.

Additional talent will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out Criss’ announcement video below. Tickets are on sale now at https://smarturl.it/ElsieFest19!
