While Harry Styles may have passed on The Little Mermaid, there are plenty of young actors interested in the park.
Christian Navarro (13 Reasons Why) took to Twitter to campaign for the uncast role of Prince Eric in the upcoming project.
It all started when, on Aug. 13, he tweeted out his interest in the role.
“So I heard Harry Styles passed on Prince Eric, well…I can sing. Black Ariel/Latino Prince…no ones called but Season 3 drops next week and I think it’s one hell of an audition.”
(This was before the third season of 13 Reasons Why dropped. Navarro plays the character of Tony Padilla on the Netflix series. He’s also a musician.)
Apparently, it worked! Someone at Disney liked what they saw and Navarro sent in his audition tapes. He took to Twitter again to give fans an update.
“Idk what happened to the other tweet. But! @disney saw this, saw your support, and gave my team a call. They wanted to see what I could do. Tapes sent. Fingers crossed. Let’s make some history. #iloveyou3000 #PrinceEric #TheLittleMermaid”
