The First Trailer For Ryan Murphy’s Netflix Debut The Politician Drops And It’s…Intense

Ryan Murphy is returning to the hyper-exaggerated world of high school in his first Netflix series, The Politician.

Oh if you thought Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) was intense about her ambitions on Glee, then wait until you get a load of Payton Hobart (Ben Platt). This hyper-motivated high school student wants to win student body president as a stepping stone to one day become President of the United States. He’s willing to do anything to get there. He has a cancer patient running mate for “the sympathy vote” amongst other things.

His mother (Gwyneth Paltrow) even calls him out on his intensity saying, “Your ambition frightens me.”

And if you thought that if worrying about the sympathy vote for the high school campaign was only the end of it, then you haven’t watched a Ryan Murphy show yet. There’s an assassination attempt on top of scandalous rumors as the race heats up. What’s a Ryan Murphy show without balls to the wall insanity?

Because, sure, why not. Check it out below.

The series also dropped a poster as well. It shows Paltrow and Platt with the tagline: “We promise to promise you everything.”
