Fear of dark water is perfectly normal. Let’s be real here, folks. There’s some terrifying stuff under the ocean’s surface. The deeper we go, the more that is unknown to us. More importantly, like space, the greater the risk of death if something goes wrong.
For the average person, it’s just…creepy.
In the trailer for the upcoming Kristen Stewart film Underwater, we see a group of scientists who are trapped seven miles underneath the surface being attacked by something. The more trapped they are, the more tensions run high especially as they try to survive.
Talking with Entertainment Weekly, Stewart said on the movie, “Basically, it’s like a survival movie about a bunch of people that don’t know each other, and the strange, occasionally existential conversations that ensue, and the weird relationships being formed really quickly.”
Norah, played by Stewart, is described as “a courageous and strong woman who is a bit more jaded and hardened than other crew and ends up in a relationship with another crewmember.”
William Eubank (The Signal) directed the film. Joining Stewart in the cast is Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), Mamoudou Athie (The Circle), and T.J. Miller (Silcon Valley). On Miller’s involvement with the film, Underwater was shot before before his bomb threat and the allegations of sexual assault/workplace misconduct were leveled against him.
Underwater will be released on January 10th, 2020.
