It’s the end of an era for ABC’s Agents of SHIELD. The series was renewed for a seventh and final season earlier this month. On July 31st, production ended and the series wrapped with filming for the last time. It was a bittersweet moment for the cast and crew.
For seven years, Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Castedecker, and Elizabeth Henstridge have been saving the world, going up in space, and dealing with every sort of threat imaginable. Later, Henry Simmons and Natalia Cordova-Buckley joined them on their adventures to round out one of the most successful ensembles on TV and the only Marvel series that stood the test of time.
The post includes many behind the scenes pictures of the cast and crew goofing around on set. He even threw it way back and included one of the first promo pictures of the series, Coulson and his team gathered around Coulson’s beloved red Corvette Lola. The post even included a picture of Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen on what looks to be when they were shooting the pilot episode. Joss Whedon helmed the pilot, which saw Coulson coming back from the dead. (For those of you who might have forgotten, Coulson died in The Avengers after becoming such a beloved presence in the films.)
Season five was originally supposed to Agents of SHIELD’s swan song. The series took Coulson back to Tahiti, the real one this time, where he and Melinda May (Ming-Na) could live out the remainder of Coulson’s life in peace. The episode was even titled “The End.”
ABC surprised the cast and crew and renewed it for a 13-episode season which introduced Sarge, a completely different character for Gregg because what would Agents of SHIELD be without him?
The two-part season finale for season six airs tonight at 8/7c. Season 7 is set to premiere summer of 2020.
