Netflix is kicking off the election season early as it has gifted the world with a first look at the upcoming series The Politician. The streaming giant released on Thursday several stills from the series, giving audiences a glimpse into the characters played by Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, Ben Platt, and more.

The series follows the story Payton Hobart (played by Platt), “a wealthy student from Santa Barbara, California, who’s long harbored a passionate interest in becoming President of the United States. Until then, however, he must navigate the political waters of his Saint Sebastian High School, where he attempts to run for Student Body President while aiming for admission to Harvard.”

Paltrow plays Platt’s adoptive mother while Lange plays the grandmother of Zoey Deutch’s character. Joining Platt, Paltrow, Deutch, and Lange as part of the cast are Bette Midler, Judith Light, Lucy Boynton, Dylan McDermott, January Jones, and Bob Balaban.

The Politician is the first of three series from Ryan Murphy’s multimillion dollar production deal with Netflix. Following The Politician are Ratched, which is set to be a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Murphy’s American Horror Story vet Sarah Paulson, and Hollywood, described as a “love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.”

From the looks of the stills, we are going to be in for quite the treat with this series. The cast is absolutely to die for, and Murphy tends to slay when it comes to developing new series.

The Politician will debut on Netflix on September 27th.
