The First Trailer For The Live-Action Mulan Is The Coolest Thing We’ve Seen

Mulan was one of the most badass Disney characters to come out of the 90s. Voiced by the incomparable Ming-Na Wen and based on a Chinese legend, the film followed Fa Mulan as she disguises herself as a boy and goes to fight in a war against the Huns in place of her father.

We here at 4 Your Excitement have nothing but the fondest memories of the movie. The live-action remake is one that we’re pretty excited about (even if we won’t be hearing a new version of “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You”).

On Sunday (July 7th), Disney released the first footage from the film. It. Is. Awesome. The 90-second teaser trailer shows as Mulan battles against her duty to her family as a good daughter and her desire to be more than what society wants from her. Liu Yifei, who plays the title character, does some amazing stunts in the trailer.

Wow. Seriously. We cannot wait to see this movie.

We have our first poster for the film, which references an iconic scene in the animated film before Mulan cuts off her hair. It also shows Mulan as herself and in her armor.

Also amongst the cast is Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Yonson An, Jason Scott Lee, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, Nelson Lee, Chum Ehelepola, and Gong Li. The film was directed by Niki Caro from a script by Elizabeth Martin, Lauren Hynek, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver.

Check out the trailer below.

Mulan will be released on March 27th, 2020.
