Storm Reid, who broke through to audiences in Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time, will join James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reid will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s mystery character. She joins a heavy hitting cast for the “soft reboot” of the 2016 film.
Returning members include Jai Courtney (Alita: Battle Angel) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (Birds of Prey) as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman (Hanna) as Rick Flagg, and Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder) as Amanda Walker.
Elba (Luther) was cast in a new role (originally believed to be a recast of Will Smith’s Deadshot). New members for the film include John Cena (Bumblebee) and David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man), whose roles are also a mystery.
It’s a big mystery for what Gunn has planned for the project is what we’re saying.
Apparently, production for the film will begin in September of this year with Atlanta the rumored production location.
Reid, as we mentioned, broke out when she nabbed the lead of the 2018 Ava DuVernay directed A Wrinkle In Time. She reteamed with DuVernay with a role in the Netflix Central Park 5 drama When They See Us.
Currently, Reid stars in the HBO envelope pushing teen drama Euphoria as the younger sister of Rue (Zendaya). She also will have a role in the upcoming The Invisible Man, which stars Elisabeth Moss.
The Suicide Squad will be released on August 6th, 2021.
