Shazam! Deleted Scene Drops Major Black Adam Tease

Shazam! was an excellent addition to the DC film universe. It was a light-hearted with a sweet message about the power of family and making a home.

At the climax of the film, Billy Batson (in the form of Zachary Levi) shares his powers with his foster siblings so they can help him battle Sivana (Mark Strong) and his Seven Deadly Sins. It was pretty freaking awesome as well.

As you know, however, there was a Champion before Billy in comics, Black Adam. A film is in the works with Dwayne Johnson attached as the title character. With Shazam!‘s success, they’re moving forward with a director attached: Jaume Collet-Serra who previously worked with Johnson in the upcoming Jungle Cruise.

A deleted scene from Shazam! gives a nice little tease to that character. In the scene, the Shazam fam (in their magic forms) join Billy in the Rock of the Eternity. But there’s an empty seat at the Pantheon, so to speak. Could this empty seat be for Black Adam? I would say definitely.

In the comics, Black Adam is an antagonist to Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel). Though, in recent years, he’s been more of an anti-hero over a flat out bad guy.

The video appears to have been taken down by Warner Bros at the present time, which is a major bummer.

Shazam! will be out on digital on July 2nd and on DVD/Blu-ray on July 16th.
